The bird in the boat

Once there was a boat, sailing in deep waters

It had always lived in the darkness of downstream torrents, and knew little else of life, or the outside world.

One day a bird came to nest inside the boat.

With all its colours shimmering as the clouds drifted by, it looked like a gold and silver rainbow.

The boat had never realised just how beautiful the sun was. He wanted to reach it, and fly away like the bird did, into the horizon.

The boat asked the sea creatures, "Which way shall I go?" They swam on in silence.

The boat asked a fisherman,  "Which way shall I go?"

"You'll not find food up there, my friend, you'll just starve. You cant go chasing after dreams like that. Only a bird can fly."

The boat felt a bit silly. But he had seen aeroplanes up in the sky... Maybe he could find a way to grow wings of his own.

A big shark came along with its mouth full of sails.

It could smell spices and sugar, which had blown overboard from a ship, and made their way to the shoreline.

The boat felt a bit afraid at the thought of being eaten up by the shark,

But the shark was chasing after the bird, which was just taking off into the sky.

So the boat called out to the bird, "Which way shall I go?"

"Its easy." laughed the bird. "You just follow your thoughts. They dont have to take you down all the time... to begin with, start by looking up."

The bird pointed out onto the horizon. "You see that house? Its YOUR HOUSE...  and what you build is how it becomes... see how its crumbling on one side, where the wall has been eaten away."

"And see the new building? How it's unfinished? Well it's simple. You create the ending you want... Let's make it happy."

"Look further across the horizon, and SEE YOUR SELF LIVING IN PARADISE.

Now go upstream with those feelings. FOLLOW YOUR SUNLIGHT."

And with that, the bird flew away, leaving only the trail of his wing separating the clouds in the sky.
