WHEN SLEEP CALLS

When sleep calls,

Must not you take?

Fall to her pillow,

As a naked breast -

Or keep you turning,

Till tomorrow,

Without breath,

Forever burning.

Like an effervescent light,

Which knows not

Night?

And when she bawls,

Must not you lay

Your soul upon

Her lovingness,

Let her casess

Your wearyness:

Come to me,

Rest.
