A MEMORY
Spiralling stairs
Led to the sea.
And beside the sea,
You sat,
With green enticing eyes,
And smile
As wide as that ocean.
I still remember
Your kiss.
We never met again;
And of course,
I never told my brother,
Who dropped me off,
At the city roundabout
At 9am,
To walk till 5...
How could he believe
A word of the world
I explored,
By Edinburgh's shores?
Walking to Leith,
Taking those steps,
Beneath the shops,
Through shaded trees,
To the countryside:
And daring to kiss
A stranger who,
Till this day,
I still miss!
