I HAD A PICTURE
I had a picture of you,
Stuck on the front cover
Of my maths book.
And then, I loved you
Even as I do now.
You used to laugh and say
That when I grew, I'd leave behind
Your memories and your smile -
Though now I keep you
Wrapped inside my soul...
That day when I came out of school
To find that you weren't there,
I laid myself so open to despair.
But then, I shook myself
And let the world believe
That I was proud of you;
Which in a way was true.
I take the picture of you,
When it's late at night,
And lay it on the pillow
As I cry into your eyes -
Maybe, maybe we will meet again
When I am grown:
But if we don't,
I'll wait for you... in Heaven.
